The Fort Atkinson Area Chamber of Commerce Monday held a Lemonade Day kickoff event.
According to information released by the chamber, Lemonade Day is an annual event organized by the Fort Atkinson Area Chamber of Commerce and sponsored by the Fort Community Credit Union (FCCU). The national event is designed to encourage area youth to develop entrepreneurial skills by developing and managing a lemonade stand.
As previously reported by Fort Atkinson Online, Lemonade Day made its debut in Fort Atkinson in 2019.
After a pause in 2020 and 2021, the program returned last year, with some 12 stands run by young entrepreneurs located throughout the community participating in the second annual event.
This year, Fort Atkinson Area Chamber of Commerce Project and Membership Manager Dana Butson said, stands will be set up in Barrie Park, 210 Robert St., Fort Atkinson, to provide each of the young entrepreneurs with a more equitable selling opportunity.
According to information released by the chamber, this year’s Lemonade Day event will be held Saturday, May 6, from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m.
A kickoff event to aid entrepreneurs in developing their stands and marketing concepts was held Monday at the Dwight Foster Public Library.
During Monday’s kickoff event, youth entrepreneurs and their families learned about the program and the workshops that will lead up to Lemonade Day.
Workshops include Recipe Day at Jones Market; Bank Day at FCCU, Badger Bank and Johnson Financial; Construction Day at Builders FirstSource, and Marketing Day, which will be held at BASE (Badgerland After School Enrichment) program locations.
All interested youth are invited to participate in the program free of charge, the release stated.
On Lemonade Day, participating entrepreneurs will be judged on their entrepreneurial skills. Those eligible to participate in the competition must sell their products from stands set up in Barrie Park, the release noted.
Several businesses belonging to the Fort Atkinson Area Chamber of Commerce will be sponsoring and promoting the stands, the release stated.
Those with questions are encouraged to contact Shauna Wessely, executive director of the Fort Atkinson Area Chamber of Commerce by email: director@fortchamber.com.
