Wisconsin Makers, Whitewater, has announced that it will be hosting its second free movie night.
The nonprofit group will be showing “Mystery Men” on its 15-foot-wide movie screen, complete with 500-watt surround-sound, Saturday, April 29, at 7 p.m.
According to information released by the organization, all members of the public may attend the free showing of the family-friendly movie.
The group plans to show free movies periodically throughout the year, the release noted.
Wisconsin Makers is located at 200 E. Clay St.
During the movie, free popcorn will be served, with other concessions available for sale at nominal prices.
Within the release, Wisconsin Makers President Al Jewer said the movie night is designed to make the makerspace more widely understood and available to area residents as it emerges from a two-year hibernation following the coronavirus pandemic, adding that volunteers have been reorganizing the space for educational and recreational use.
“We want to provide a fun, affordable evening out for people of all ages,” Jewer was quoted as saying in the release about the upcoming movie event.
As described within the release, Mystery Men is a 1999 American superhero comedy film directed by Kinka Usher, written by Neil Cuthbert, and is loosely based on Bob Burden’s “Flaming Carrot Comics.” The film details the story of a team of lesser superheroes with unimpressive powers who are required to save the day.
It stars Ben Stiller, Hank Azaria, William H. Macy, Greg Kinnear, Janeane Garofalo, Paul Reubens, Kel Mitchell, Wes Studi, Geoffrey Rush, Lena Olin, Eddie Izzard, Claire Forlani and Tom Waits, the release stated.

According to the release, Wisconsin Makers is a makerspace that creates an affordable, collaborative and educational environment that inspires people of all ages to become innovators within their communities by unlocking their skills through continual training.
It has members from Jefferson, Walworth, Rock and Waukesha counties, among others, all of whom have access to the makerspace building’s workshops around the clock. The facility houses machine, welding/fabrication, electronics, automotive, 3D printing, laser engraving and woodworking shops. It also offers opportunities, among others, to use tools and machines associated with ceramics, metal art, quilting, fabric arts, and matting/framing.
