The Wisconsin Department of Transportation (DOT) has announced that it will begin working on a 1.75-mile stretch of roadway on U.S. Highway 12, between the intersections of Highway 12 and County Trunk M and Highway 12 and Madison Avenue in Fort Atkinson.
Work is scheduled to begin Monday according to information recently released by both the city of Fort Atkinson and the DOT.
According to information on the DOT’s website, the work area will begin just south of the intersection of Highway 12 and County Trunk M and will include resurfacing and replacing the top 3-1/2 inches of asphalt pavement, along with upgrades to curbs and ramps to meet ADA standards at intersections, and installation of pavement marking within the work zone area.
According to information released by city officials, some 92 sidewalk ramps, including curb and gutter upgrades at the ramps, will be replaced.
City officials also have noted that the road will remain open during construction with flagging operations in place.
A November completion date for the project is anticipated, according to information released by city officials.
