Jefferson County residents age 16 or older may register online for COVID-19 vaccinations by taking three simple steps.
To sign up the free vaccinations, the Jefferson County Health Department advises:
• Go to https://vaccinate.wi.gov/. If you do not have access to the internet, call toll-free at (844) 684-1064 to get help with registering for a vaccine or finding other available vaccine clinics near you.
• Fill out your contact information, health assessment, and other relevant questions. After you fill out the questions and complete registration by attesting to the statements and submitting your responses, you will receive an email confirming your registration, although there might be a delay in your receipt of the confirmation email. As of this step, you do not have an appointment scheduled. Do not go to a clinic to get a vaccine until you have scheduled an appointment.
• After completing the step above, you will see a map of vaccine providers in your area. This means you have successfully registered in the system. You may now select an available appointment with any vaccine provider.
However, you will not see Jefferson County Health Department’s clinic listed on this map. This is because registration for that site is by invitation only. If you see this screen and have provided an address in Jefferson County, the department has your information and will be sending you an invitation to make your appointment via email within one week. If you did not provide an email, someone will reach out to you by phone to schedule your appointment.
Note: If residents have registered through the Wisconsin COVID-19 Vaccine Registry, they will be included on the Jefferson County Health Department’s email list.
Also, persons age 16 or 17 may only make an appointment for a clinic that is administering the Pfizer vaccine. The department will indicate in its email which vaccine will be administered for that clinic.
Due to the limited supply of vaccines, not all individuals who register will be able to make an appointment when scheduling becomes available. The department will retain all eligible individuals who have not made appointments on its list to be notified of appointment availability for future clinics.
Persons unable to utilize the survey or online scheduling system may call the health department at (920) 674-7275 to be placed on a list of individuals to call for scheduling appointments.
Those who are under the age of 16 are not currently eligible for any COVID-19 vaccine. Health officials anticipate that a vaccine will be available for younger populations soon.
COVID-19 screenings available
Meanwhile, Jefferson County is continuing to provide drive-through coronavirus screenings at two sites.
At Jefferson County Fair Park, tests are given Mondays from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. on April 26 and May 3, 10, 17 and 24.
Anyone, 12 months of age or older, is eligible for the test. Registration is recommended at Register.covidconnect.wi.gov.
Also, free, fast COVID-19 tests are available to anyone 5 years or older at the University of Wisconsin-Whitewater Community Engagement Center, 1260 W. Main St., Whitewater, from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. Monday through Friday.
Persons who want to receive a rapid-results test — available in about 15 minutes — should register at doineedacovid19test.com or call 1-800-635-8611. Those who test positive through the rapid-results test are urged to get a confirmatory PCR test.
Individuals do not have to be experiencing symptoms or be a close contact of someone with COVID-19 to get a test, nor do they need to live in the community where the testing site is located.
