The Crossroads program and FFA in the School District of Fort Atkinson recently helped the City of Fort Atkinson’s Department of Public Works plant trees and mulch around trees on Endl Boulevard.
The Fort Atkinson Beautification Council worked from a matching grant from the Fort Community Foundation’s Fort Tree Fund to support the city’s tree planting to replace the dying ash trees and to fill in spots that need new trees.
Endl Boulevard was the site where the Beautification Council planted trees 30 to 40 years ago to help beautify the city. Many of those original purple flowering crab apples are still in place.
The above slide presentation shows students filling in spots where trees have died or are dying. Special thanks to the Fort Atkinson Wisconservation Club, Fort Atkinson High School Class of 1969 and to Bernadine Frey and the McGlynns for their donations in support of this project. Donations still may be made by contacting the community foundation’s Fort Tree Fund at (920) 222-1191 or at facf@fortfoundation.org.
