Fort M.E. & My Pets to open under new management; Whitewater location to close in September

By Kim McDarison

Making an announcement on the company’s Facebook page, the owners for the past 25 years of M.E. & My Pets, with locations in Fort Atkinson and Whitewater, have sold their pet supply business to a couple from Milton.

Answering questions by phone Friday Eric Lange, who owned and operated the two stores along with his partner, Mary Horning, said the new owners are Scott and Heather White.

The new owners will begin operating the Fort Atkinson store, 1609 Madison Ave., on Sept. 16, Lange said, noting that he will stay “on board” until the end of September to help with the business transfer.

Plans call for inventory within the two locations to be placed in the Fort Atkinson store, with closure of the Whitewater store scheduled for Sept. 14.

“We appreciate the support we have received from our Whitewater customers for over 20 years and we hope (they) will continue to support the Fort Atkinson location,” Lange and Horning wrote on their Facebook page.

Lange said he and Horning rented the space in Whitewater.

In retirement, he said, the pair intends to move to Florida where they will focus on dog rescue work.

“We do it for all dogs, but mostly we focus on the little guys, and the ones with special needs,” Lange said.

“We do fostering, so we do the grunt work and the care,” he added.

When Lange and Horning will make the move to Florida is still under discussion, he said.

Additionally, Lange said he wanted to thank members of the public for supporting his business for 25 years.

“And,” he said, “I hope they will give the same support to the new ownership.”

He also asked members of the public to spay and neuter their pets.
