Preparations are underway for the Fort Atkinson High School homecoming event, which, this year, is titled: “Homecoming Field of Roses,” according to information released Monday by high school principal Leigh Ann Scheuerell.
A full week of activities are scheduled, according to the release, which additionally noted that the Senior Homecoming Committee has been “working hard to plan a week of fun activities for the student body.”
The activities begin this Sunday, and are scheduled nearly daily through Friday, Oct. 4.
Events the public may attend
Activities begin with a dodgeball tournament, planned for this Sunday, beginning at 6 p.m., in the Fort Atkinson High School Premier Bank Gymnasium.
According to the release, members of the public may attend this event and are asked to bring a non-perishable food item for the Fort Atkinson Food Pantry.
On Monday, Sept. 30, activities continue with a talent show planned to begin at 7 p.m., in the high school’s Performing Arts Center.
Community members are invited to participate. The school is seeking donations as a suggested price of admission, with proceeds used to support senior class events, the release noted.
Wednesday, Oct. 2, brings a juniors versus seniors Powder Puff Game, which, the release stated, will begin at 7 p.m., in the Fort Atkinson High School Jones Dairy Farm Stadium.
According to the release, the “community is welcome to come and cheer on the classes.” Additionally, the release noted, the Homecoming Court will be announced.
A “Blackhawk Carnival” is planned to take place Thursday, Oct. 3, with “multiple home game contests,” the release advised, including girls volleyball, both junior varsity and varsity games,, at 5:30 p.m. and 7 p.m., respectively. Members of the community may attend the games.
The carnival will provide games and a “dunk table,” which will be made available at the school’s Jones Dairy Farm Stadium.
A Pep Rally and home football game are both scheduled for Friday, Oct. 4, beginning at 7 p.m. in the Jones Dairy Farm Stadium. The Homecoming Court will again be announced during the pep rally. The public is welcome to attend the events.
Students and staff only events
On Saturday, Oct. 5, students will attend the Homecoming Dance, which will be held between 8 and 11 p.m. at the high school.
Ticket for the event are available for purchase at the high school during students’ lunch period. Tickets also will be sold at the door on the night of the event.
In addition, the release read, students and staff will participate in such activities as a week of dress-up days.
Spirit week dress-up days are as follow:
Monday, Sept. 29, PJ Day; Tuesday, Sept. 30, Summer BBQ: Fourth of July or Hawaiian; Wednesday, Oct. 1, Field of Roses, with white for ninth grade, purple for 10th grade, red for 11th grade, pink for 12th grade, and yellow for staff; Thursday, Oct. 2, Throwback Thursday, or “Bring it Back Day,” during which students are invited to wear their favorite clothes, represent a favorite trend, or sport a favorite toy from their childhood, and Friday, Oct. 3, Blackhawk Spirit-wear, during which students are invited to wear red and black.
