‘Trunk or Treat’ to be held Oct. 31

“Trunk or Treat,” a Halloween event, will be held Oct. 31 in Jones Park.

According to its organizers, the event will take place between 6 and 8 p.m. Those offering to help set up or take down the event should plan to attend between 4 and 9:30 p.m.

The event will include concessions sponsored by the Fort Atkinson Generals. Music for the event will be broadcasted by radio, according to a recent press release.

In the release, event organizer Jude Hartwick noted that the event will further include participation from the Fort Atkinson Police Department and the Fort Atkinson Fire Department. Both departments will be “manning” opposite ends of the parking lot.

“If we have a lot of participants, we may have a walkway through the walking path next to the reservoir/stage area to Grove Street,” Hartwick said in the release.

If attendance does not warrant the walkway, he said, the event will take place in the parking lot near Park Street and the parking lot near South 6th and Milo streets.

Participants are asked to park their vehicles in the parking lot near Jameway Avenue, across the street from Jones Dairy Farm.

In case of inclement weather, the commons at the Fort Atkinson High School has been identified as an alternative site.

Organizations looking to participate in the event are encouraged to register by filling out a survey, the release continued. Those not in charge of an organization who would like to participate are encouraged to make the survey and registration process known to the leadership of an organization with which they participate, Hartwick noted within the release.

“I look forward to having a scary, but not too scary, event,” Hartwick said.

Participating organizations that feel they may have a table or trunk that is too scary for young children are encouraged to alert organizers. Trunks deemed too scary for younger children will be placed in “darker areas,” Hartwick added.
