Whitewater Arts Alliance announces proposed events for 2022, membership fees

Looking for something new to begin in the new year? The Whitewater Arts Alliance, an arts-oriented, nonprofit organization, is looking for new members, volunteers and donors to help support its ongoing mission to make all facets of the arts accessible to the Whitewater and broader area community. 

Information released by the alliance, which operates from the Cultural Arts Center, 402 W. Main St., Whitewater, notes that those joining the group as members will receive several benefits, including: 

• Participation, at reduced fees, in alliance exhibits, including the Members Show, and featuring a free Members Show highlight. The show runs annually during a 30-day period spanning the months of November and December. (To learn more about the 2021 Members show, alliance member artists, and the online reception, view the video below.) 

• Participation, at reduced fees, in alliance-sponsored workshops. 

• Announcements received about exhibit/workshop opportunities from other artists and local organizations.

• Involvement through support of community events like solo shows, group shows, community theatre, the annual Savory Sounds Concert Series, among others.

Membership is tax deductible and lasts through the calendar year: January through December.

Several levels of membership are available in 2022. They are: 

  • Founder/Corporate: $500.
  • Benefactor: $250.
  • Sponsor: $100.
  • Family: $75.
  • Individual: $50; Senior, ages 62 and older, $25, and student, $15. 

Membership fees are paid annually and are tax deductible. 

A schedule of events proposed in 2022 includes: 

  • Feb. 4-27: I Do Art and … Exhibit.
  • February: Virtual production of “No Justice.” 
  • March 4-27: Wisconsin Regional Art Program (WRAP). 
  • April 8-24: Whitewater Unified School District Exhibit.
  • May 21-22: Tom Nachreiner En Plein Air Art Workshop. 
  • May: Public Art Project; Favorite Literary Works.
  • June 3-26: Stained Glass by John Seizer.
  • June 24-26: Dorrie Rifkin Cityscape Watercolor Workshop.
  • July: Savory Sounds Concerts.
  • July 1-31: Fran Achen Photography Exhibit/Contest.
  • Aug. 5-6: Maxwell Street Days Art Fair.
  • Sept. 2-25: Elwood Warren Bartlett Woodcuts.
  • Sept. 23-25: Ron Stocke Watercolor Workshop.
  • Oct. 7-30: Fantasy/Mythology/Folklore Exhibit.
  • Oct. 27: Ghoul’s Night Out Mask-Making Workshop.
  • Nov. 4 to Dec. 11: Whitewater Arts Alliance Members Exhibit. 

Volunteers are also important to the group. Volunteers participate by becoming gallery docents, which includes serving as a receptionist and guide at the Cultural Arts Center. Volunteers are also used to help with gallery art installations, according to information supplied by the alliance. 

Additionally, volunteers provide baked goods and other goodies that are served during art receptions. 

Volunteering requires no previous experience, information provided by the alliance continued. Those interested will be taught about the gallery and its programming. 

All donations, whether through volunteerism or tangibles, such as baked goods or dollars, are appreciated and accepted. Monetary donations are tax deductible, supplied information stated.
