Requests from organizers of three upcoming events were approved by the Fort Atkinson City Council Tuesday.

The events include an “Easton’s Cause” softball tournament to be held in Ralph Park July 17-18; “Rhythm Remix 2021,” to be held in Fort Atkinson’s downtown area Aug. 21, and “Fort Atkinson Cruise Nights,” to be held on multiple dates in Jones Park.

Easton’s Cause Softball Tournament

In a memo to council, City Clerk Michelle Ebbert noted that the organizers of the Easton’s Cause Softball Tournament were looking to host their event on Saturday, July 17, and Sunday, July 18, from 7 a.m. to 10 p.m. in Ralph Park.

Organizers estimated an event attendance of about 200 people.

Council also approved a Temporary Class B Retailers License application, which was submitted by the organizers, allowing beer to be sold from a concession stand during the event.

Rhythm Remix 2021

In a memo to council, Ebbert noted that the Fort Atkinson Area Chamber of Commerce was planning to host Rhythm Remix 2021, which was described in an event overview submitted by the chamber as an “end of the summer block party.”

According the the overview, the event would serve to recreate the chamber’s annual “Rhythm on the River” event in a COVID-19-safe way.

As stated in the overview, the chamber has hosted Rhythm on the River for 18 years. The event typically attracts some 5,000 people who come to participate in the city’s downtown area for an evening of musical entertainment.

This year, the overview stated, the chamber has partnered with Fort Atkinson Charity Concerts to provide a daytime experience.

The event will be held Saturday, Aug. 21, between 10 a.m. and 6 p.m., and is described as a “family-friendly celebration.”

The event, which is free, will have five downtown venues and feature regional musical talents who are scheduled to perform throughout the day.

“Spreading out the venues will allow for smaller groups to gather and increase distancing for those in attendance,” the overview stated.

Sites where music will be performed include: Riverwalk Plaze, behind the Brock Riverwalk Tavern and Grill, 99 S. Main St.; Cafe Carpe, in an empty lot located west of the restaurant at 18 S. Water St. W.; Jones Market, 601 Jones Avenue; the Barrie Park Bandshell, 210 Robert St., and the parking lot at Tavern on Rock, 29 Sherman Avenue W.

Two musical groups will be scheduled at each venue throughout the day. Groups confirmed to perform as of May 18 were: Noah Hittner, John Gay, Jason Petitt, 7000apart, Driftless, and Altar Boy Picnic.

Although not confirmed as of May 18, a food court is planned to take place in the parking lot associated with Fort HealthCare Business Services, 210 Milwaukee Avenue. A backup lot is also planned should it be required at the Fort Atkinson Chamber of Commerce parking lot, 244 North Main St.

Food court participants confirmed as of May 18 include: Beauty and the Bean and Carla’s Catering.

Other activities include “Kid Zones,” which will be located on the Riverwalk Plaze, behind Brock’s Riverwalk Tavern and Grill, and the Rotary Depot Shelter, on the bike trail near the intersection of Robert Street and Milwaukee Avenue. Activies found in the zones will include face painting, balloon artists and crafters. As of May 18, Kid Zones activity providers had not yet been confirmed.

Plans further call for an information and merchandise booth to be set up at the Rotary Depot Shelter where chamber ambassadors will welcome event-goers and provide information about the day’s events. Merchandise, such as t-shirts, also will be on sale.

Street closures were not requested as part of the event. Water Street will be closed during the event to accommodate the Fort Famers Market.

Restrooms will be available during the event in the “theatre building” in the “municipal lot across from the post office.”

Picnic tables will be made available in the following locations: three tables at the Rotary Depot; six tables at the Cafe Carpe lot; six tables at the Tavern on Rock parking lot, and five tables at the Fort HealthCare Business Services parking lot.

Temporary directional and wayfinding signage will be placed throughout the downtown area.

Fort Atkinson Cruise Night

Fort Atkinson Curise Night is planned to take place on selected Mondays beginning June 14 through Sept. 13, in Jones Park.

According to a memo to council submitted by Ebbert, the Fort Atkinson Generals Baseball Team will provide concessions as a licensed entity to sell beer.

Music will be offered during the event and will be set up in the park’s south parking lot off of Park Street by Kent’s Big Bar and 3-D Music Company.

The event will take place between the hours of 5:30 and 8:30 p.m. on June 14, July 12, Aug. 9 and Sept. 13.

Organizers estimate between 250 and 300 people will attend each Monday.
