Fort Atkinson and other area educators will be able to receive their first doses of the COVID-19 vaccine at a day-long clinic at Whitewater High School on Tuesday, March 16.
SSM Health announced that teachers from the School District of Fort Atkinson, Whitewater Unified School District, University of Wisconsin-Whitewater and the Fort Atkinson and Watertown campuses of Madison Area Technical College will be immunized at the clinic.
Educators must pre-register for the clinic; walk-ins will not be accepted. Any faculty or school staff in the appropriate districts may contact Erica Mathis at (608) 373-8025 or erica.mathis@ssmhealth.com.
“We believe vaccinating educators is a key component to getting our state’s children safely back to school full time and SSM Health is honored to partner with school districts to administer the COVID-19 vaccine,” said Damond Boatwright, SSM Health WI Regional President.
Educators in Sun Prairie, Waunakee and Madison also have been vaccinated at clinics through a partnership with SSM Health.
Boatwright said that SSM Health has enough of a vaccine supply to prioritize people who are 16 and older who are eligible according to Department of Health Services guidelines, while still getting to vaccinate educators.
SSM Health said it has administered more than 111,000 doses of the coronavirus vaccine in the state since December.
