Fireside Theatre restarts season with Rodgers & Hammerstein’s ‘Cinderella’

After 16 months without a Broadway musical on its stage, The Fireside Theatre has announced the restarting of its theatre season with the opening of Rodgers & Hammerstein’s “CINDERELLA.”

Information recently released by the theater notes: The show opened on July 22 with an enthusiastic capacity audience and will continue to run seven shows weekly through Sept. 5.

CINDERELLA appeals to the child in all of us complete with the delightful main character, a handsome prince, their fairy tale romance, and a magical fairy godmother. Written by Broadway’s greatest composing team of Richard Rodgers and Oscar Hammerstein II, this version of the well-known tale includes their glorious songs including “In My Own Little Corner,” “Impossible,” “Ten Minutes Ago,” and “Do I Love You Because You’re Beautiful.” Whether you’re eight or eighty you’ll be captivated by its humor, its romance, its beauty, and it’s great, great music.

The Fireside’s production is directed by Artistic Director Ed Flesch, with musical direction by Mary Ehlinger and choreography by Katelin Zelon. The production team includes Set Designer Rick A. Rasmussen, Lighting Designer Jason Fassl, Stage Manager MJ Bernhardt, Audio Engineer Brian Hrpcek, and Technical Director Nathan Stamper. Since New York studios were closed to auditions yet this spring, Director Flesch hand-picked the cast from those he had worked with before or came highly recommended, the release stated.

Caitlin Borek stars as Cinderella in The Fireside’s production having previously appeared there as Christine in PHANTOM and Cosette in LES MISERABLE for which she was named Best Actress in a Musical by BroadwayWorld.com, Madison region. She offers the perfect mix of meek servant to her stepsisters and someone destined to be a princess. Michael Dikegoros appears as Prince Charming. He was happy to return after his role as Harry the Horse in the 2020 production of GUYS AND DOLLS was unfortunately cut short. Performing as the King and Queen are Michael Haws and Mary Ehlinger with Laura Cable in the role of Fairy Godmother. Eleven more talented actors and actresses round out the professional cast.

Every performance of CINDERELLA includes a memorable dining experience, according to the release, along with the opportunity to browse the boutique gift shops, and free, convenient parking. Youth packages are available for all shows for ages 14 and under with a child-friendly meal.

Guests can also enjoy The Fireside’s Award-Winning Fish Fry on Fridays, from 4:30 to 7:30 p.m.
