First Congregational United Church of Christ (UCC) of Fort Atkinson has announced that it will officially install the Rev. Sara Rabe during a special service at the church, Sunday, April 30, at 2 p.m.
All members of the community are welcome to attend.
According to the release, members of First Congregational UCC and Pastor Rabe (pronounced Rob) will affirm their covenant with each other. Several hymns and a short message also will comprise the service.
Representatives from the Southwest Association of the Wisconsin Conference UCC will be present for the service, and the Rev. Rachel Bauman, an associate conference minister, will preside during the installation covenant, the release stated.
Pastor Rabe grew up and worked on her family’s dairy farm near Kiel, Wis. She pursued her calling of ministry early in her life, graduating from Lakeland College near Sheboygan with a bachelor’s degree in religion. She next attended Eden Theological Seminary in St. Louis, Mo. Later, she graduated from McCormick Theological Seminar in Chicago, Ill., where she received a Doctor of Ministry degree with an emphasis in parish revitalization.
Before arriving in Fort Atkinson, Pastor Rabe served at several churches in Illinois and Wisconsin. She began serving as First Congregational UCC’s interim minister in June, 2021, following the departure of the Rev. Chris Buckingham-Taylor, who had provided ministerial leadership in the church for 17 years, the release noted.
Recreationally, Pastor Rabe enjoys outdoor activities, including hiking, biking, and camping. She resides in Stoughton with her wife, Amy, and their three children.
