Fort Atkinson Club to offer FACTalks in April

The Fort Atkinson Club will be offering two FACTalks in April, according to information released by the organization’s program manager Haley Speer.

FACTalks are held at the club’s community center, 211 S. Water St., Fort Atkinson.

Speer, within the release, described FACTalks as similar to TED Talks.

According to its website, TED, or Technology, Entertainment and Design, began as a conference in 1984. The “talks” are informational initiatives, “curated from our annual conferences and published on TED.com,” the website noted.

This month, in Fort Atkinson, the first FACTalk will feature information about “Beautiful: The Carole King Musical,” according to Speer’s release, which she further described as an “upcoming show” at the Fireside Theatre.

According to the release, “the show follows the life of Carole King, from her early days to her success as a songwriter for the biggest acts in music, and her life-changing success. The show features chart-topping hits and is a Tony® and Grammy® Award-winning musical phenomenon.”

During the talk, the release noted, participants will learn “interesting tidbits about the show” as presented by Fireside Theatre’s Artistic Director Ed Flesch and New York City-based actor and singer Katie Horner, who will take on the role of Carole King.

The talk will held this Wednesday, at 7 p.m., with doors opening at 6:30 p.m., the release stated.

Additionally, according to the club’s website, on Wednesday, April 24, the organization will hold a FACTalk featuring Jim Haertel, co-owner of the former Pabst Brewery site since 2001. Haertel, will share “funny and fascinating stories about (the) iconic Wisconsin legend that continues to inspire,” the website read.

The second FACTalk will be held at 7 p.m., with doors to the Fort Atkinson Club community center opening at 6:30 p.m.

Fact talks are free and open to the public. Reservations to attend are not required.

Light refreshments are offered after the talk, the release stated.
