The meeting will be held at 6:30 p.m. at St. Peter’s Episcopal Church in Fort Atkinson. The public is invited to attend.
Coalition history
According to information released by the coalition, the organization was founded in December, 2018, after a 53-year-old homeless man, Keith Lueloff, was found dead at the Lions Park pavilion along Janesville Avenue in Fort Atkinson.
Police had spoken to him earlier in the evening, reminding him that he could not stay in the park after it closed at 10 p.m. At about 11 p.m., a patrol officer found Lueloff still there, not breathing and without a pulse. He was wearing a fleece shirt and a winter jacket.
Mother Mindy Valentine Davis, pastor of St. Peter’s Episcopal Church, and Becky Tuttle serve as co-president of the homeless coalition. Sheri Bronstad serves as executive director.
Tax-deductible donations to the organization can be sent to: Homeless Coalition of Fort Atkinson, P.O. Box 785, Fort Atkinson, WI 53538.
Twenty Fort Atkinson residents gather at Jones Park in the blustery cold to remember a local homeless man who died three years ago, as well as all who have no warm place in which to escape the elements. The gathering was held Dec. 21, 2021, and marked the 31st National Homeless Persons’ Memorial Day, which takes place each year on the longest night of the year: the winter solstice.
