The Fort Atkinson Parks and Recreation Department has announced that it will once again be holding “Adult Recess” in Jones Park.
According to information released by the department, Adult Recess is a one-of-a-kind event offered to adults ages 21 and older.
The event, released information states, offers “a unique opportunity to unwind, socialize and participate in classic recess activities.”
The next Adult Recess will be held Friday, Sept. 8, from 6 to 9 p.m.
Jones Park is located at 600 Janesville Ave., Fort Atkinson.
Those attending the event will find music provided through use of a soundtrack that has been curated by members of the Parks and Recreation Department staff.
The music “complements the fun and carefree atmosphere of the evening,” the release states.
Organized games that will be made available during the event include kickball, which will begin at 6:30 p.m., and dodgeball, which will be offered at 7:45 p.m.
Event-goers are encouraged to come alone or bring friends, and teams will be organized using a “nostalgic” format similar to one used in school on the playground, with a “team captain” selected for each team, who will then initiate a “boy-girl” process to select teammates, the release noted.
Other planned activities include spike ball, Giant Connect 4, Giant Jenga, ladder ball, bocce ball, and a beanbag tossing game called “cornhole,” among others.
The Fort Atkinson Generals Baseball Team will be on-hand to offer concessions, including food and beverages for purchase, as well as beer, which will be sold for $1 each.
Those attending the event are asked to visit the “welcome table,” where they will be required to show an ID to obtain a wristband and sign a waiver.
The event is free and open to all members of the public meeting the age requirements.
In the case of rain, the event will be canceled.
The event offers an opportunity to have fun and make new friends, according to the release.
