The School District of Fort Atkinson recently honored eight members of the district’s Safety Patrol Program.
Students honored as January’s safety patrollers of the month, include: Emery Zimmerman and Esmeralda Ramirez Zuniga, both of Purdy Elementary School; Joey Majewski and Dublin O’Reilly, both of Rockwell Elementary School; Kleiden Mecollari and Dylan Knox, both of Rockwell Elementary School, and Lilla McDonald and Paysen Allie, both of Barrie Elementary School.
The program offers training to fifth-graders at each of the district’s four elementary schools who would like to participate as safety patrollers at their respective schools.
Students then serve for a month, helping fellow students safely cross streets near their schools before and after school.
Students who show exemplary commitment to the service they provide are selected by their teachers and treated to lunch.
January’s safety patrollers were treated to lunch at McDonalds.
