Steve Larson, a former editor of the “Hoard Dairyman” magazine, and Brian Knox, president of the W.D. Hoard Company, will be presenting information this Friday, one day in advance of the 10th annual Dairy Day at the MOOseum event, which will be held this Saturday.
According to information released by Merrilee Lee, director of the Hoard Historical Museum, beginning at 7 p.m., Larson will share information about such topics as dairy farming and the dairy industry in Wisconsin and the Fort Atkinson area. His talk will additionally include information about W.D. Hoard and Hoard’s Dairyman, the Creamery Packaging Company, and W.D. James and Jamesway, among other topics.
Friday’s presentation also will include an opportunity to sample cheeses made by Hoard’s Dairyman Farm Creamery, along with a presentation made by Brian Knox, president of the W.D. Hoard Company.
Friday’s activities will be held at the Hoard Historical Museum and Dairy Shrine, 401 Whitewater Ave., Fort Atkinson.

Saturday is MOOseum day
According to the release, Dairy Day at the MOOseum is an annual event that features all seven milking breeds of cows.
The day’s activities are held at the Hoard Museum between 11 a.m. and 2 p.m.
Event participants additionally will find food made available for purchase, including grilled cheese sandwiches, and a variety of root beer floats.
Other activities include farm games.
New this year, the release noted, is a pedal tractor pull for children, ages 4 -12. Those interested in participating in the event are asked to register Saturday at 11 a.m.
A cow decorating contest also will be held.
Plywood cow cutouts have been decorated by various individuals and groups, and will be made available for judging to win prizes, including “popular choice” and “judges choice” awards.
Participants on Saturday are encouraged to vote for the decorated cows they most like by placing a penny in the container near the cow cutout. Each penny equates to one vote. The cutouts within various categories with the most pennies will win the popular choice award.
Judges will additionally choose the winners in five categories, including those of individual youth, individual adult, youth group, adult group, and mixed group.
A “cow parade” will commence on Foster Street, behind the museum, at 1:30 p.m.
