Lippert appointed as library director

Minetta Lippert has been named the next director of the Dwight Foster Public Library, according to information released by Fort Atkinson city officials.

Lippert follows Eric Robinson, who served in the role of library director since 2017 and accepted a position with the Hedberg Public Library in Janesville in May.

During its recent search for a new director, the city received 11 applications for the position. The hiring committee conducted two rounds of interviews with four candidates, according to the release.

Lippert, who has been serving as the interim library director, was selected by the Library Board Monday to fill the position.

Lippert has been a member of the Dwight Foster Public Library staff since 2012, serving first as the youth services librarian, and, as of June of 2022, as the assistant director/youth services librarian.

The new library director holds a bachelor’s degree in history from the University of Wisconsin-Madison, and a master’s degree in library science from the UW-Madison Graduate School. She is a member of the American Library Association, Association for Library Service to Children and the Wisconsin Library Association.

Lippert began her career at the Minocqua Public Library as a program assistant in 2006. She worked for a year as a briefs assistant at the Wisconsin State Law Library. Lippert worked as a summer reading program assistant at the Rosemary Garfoot Public Library and as a reference intern at the Verona Public Library.

“I am delighted that the Library Board is able to hire a director that possesses both an outstanding record of innovative and popular library programs, and great dedication to Dwight Foster Public Library and the community. Minetta has the full support of the Board and I know that she will work to maintain and improve the already excellent service, collections, and programs that make our library exceptional,” Library Board President Diana Shull was quoted as saying in the release.

“I am thrilled that the Library Board chose Minetta Lippert to be the next Dwight Foster Public Library Director and that she has accepted this role. Ms. Lippert has served in various roles at the Library for the past 12 years but also brings experience and perspective from other library systems. Ms. Lippert rose to the top of the candidate pool very quickly, and she is very deserving of this promotion. She is engaged in our community, and I have the utmost confidence in her ability to lead the Library into the future,” City Manager Rebecca Housman noted within the release.
