Patrons enjoy farmers market, Lemonade Day

With sunny, blue skies and temperatures in the 60s, Fort Atkinson-area residents had a perfect day Saturday to enjoy activities around town.

Among them was the season’s first Fort Atkinson Farmers Market. Slated from 8 a.m. to noon, it will be held Saturdays through October in the Market Square, located across from the U.S. Postal Service.

Also Saturday, the Fort Atkinson Area Chamber of Commerce sponsored its second annual Lemonade Day, in which young entrepreneurs learned about the business world by operating their own lemonade stands around town.

They earlier had attended marketing workshops, as well as learned how to make lemonade, build a stand, and get financing for their businesses.

Sponsors included “Presenting Sponsor” Fort Community Credit Union and “Main Squeeze” sponsors Badger Bank, Johnson Financial Group, and Professional Collectors Corp., along with several establishments that participated as “Safe Stand” sponsors by providing spaces from which the young entrepreneurs could operate.

Lemonade Day was held in partnership with the Badgerland After School Enrichment Program (BASE).
