A portion of North Fourth Street, between its intersections with Armenia and McMillen streets, is scheduled for permanent closure, according to information released by Fort Atkinson City Engineer Andy Selle.
The segment of roadway will permanently close on Tuesday, June 20, at 9 a.m., according to the release.
The closure was earlier approved by the Fort Atkinson City Council to accommodate plans submitted by Fort HealthCare. The hospital is undergoing an expansion in an effort to eliminate its need for remote parking.
As part of the expansion project, Fort HealthCare and its partners also plan to move four houses north of the vacated roadway to a new location on McMillen Street, with that work taking place throughout the week of June 26, the release noted.
A coordinated effort is underway to move the houses, which are owned by Fort HealthCare.
“The team will be coordinating with property owners along the path of the house movement to ensure they understand when access to their driveways may be limited,” the release stated.
