“Retro Night: An Evening of Music, Markets, and Vintage Delights” will be held tomorrow, according to information released by representatives of the Fort Atkinson Club.
Club Program Manager Haley Speer said that event-goers are invited to participate in the evening’s activities, which will be held inside the club’s community building, on the attached patio, and patrons can even decide to have a picnic on the lawn.
The Fort Atkinson Club community building is found at 211 S. Water St., E., Fort Atkinson.
Admission to the event is free.
The event will be held between 6 and 9 p.m., and will feature live music, a pop-up market, and interactive activities designed to appeal to patrons of all ages, according to the release.
Live music
The “Nightinjails,” the release stated, is “an exceptional,” all-female Milwaukee-based acoustic band, which the release noted, “will be the highlight of the evening.” The group’s unique acoustic interpretations of classic rock and grunge hits, including iconic artists such as Nirvana, Led Zeppelin, and David Bowie, will take event-goers back in time.
Retro market
In addition, the release continued, a Pop-Up Retro Market will “captivate attendees with a curated selection of vintage clothing, merchandise, and interactive experiences. Vendors, including Lava Vintage Clothing, Vintage on Main, and Simple Acre Creations will offer retro-inspired items, ranging from clothing to accessories.”
Activities
Other activities include:
• Retro Photo booth, where patrons are invited to dress up and capture memories in a themed photo booth.
• Vintage Scarf Tying and Classic Toys: where patrons can learn how to accessorize a vintage scarf and play with classic toys and games.
• Fiber Art Demos: where patrons can discover the techniques of fiber art and witness how to embellish thrifted clothing.
According to the release, each vendor at the market has planned interactive aspects, providing educational opportunities, community engagement, and family-friendly activities.
Event-attendees are encouraged “to dress in their favorite retro attire and participate in our fashion contest,” the release read.
Contest winners will receive prizes, donated by local businesses, including The Langholf, the release noted.
“Whether it’s bellbottoms, leg warmers, or a choker, we can’t wait to see the array of retro styles showcased,” Speer said.
Food
Everyone is invited to attend, Speer said in a recent phone interview, further noting that the evening’s food options include dinner offered for purchase by the American Legion through its concession window.
Transactions are cash-only, the release stated, with an ATM available inside the American Legion building, which is adjacent to the Fort Atkinson Club community building.
Those purchasing dinner from the legion can bring the food to the club’s community building, where tables will be made available for dining inside the club building and on the patio.
Those interested in bringing blankets or lawn chairs are invited to find a spot on the community building’s lawn and have a picnic, Speer said.
Further, she said, those interested in packing their own picnic food, including beer and wine, are invited to dine inside the club’s building, on the patio or lawn.
