A Milton man has died following a single-car crash, according to information released Sunday by the Rock County Sheriff’s Office.
The name of the 60-year-old man has not yet been released, the information states.
The sheriff’s office has confirmed that on Sunday, at approximately 6:37 p.m., the man, who was the sole occupant of the vehicle, was found at the intersection of North Britt and West Fenrick roads in the town of Janesville, with “serious injuries.”
The release notes that an investigation revealed that the vehicle which was operated by the man, was traveling northbound on N. Britt Road, approaching the intersection, when he failed to negotiate a curve in the roadway and entered a ditch on the north side of the intersection.
The vehicle collided with a tree before coming to a stop, the release reported.
The driver was transported to Mercy Trauma Center, Janesville, by the Janesville Fire Department, where he was pronounced dead.
Additionally, the release stated, the investigation revealed that speed was a factor in the crash.
The name of the decedent will be released at a later date, the release read.
Along with the sheriff’s office and the Janesville Fire Department, the Janesville Police Department responded to the crash.
