The Irvin L. Young Memorial Library in Whitewater has announced it will be presenting “The Great British Baking Tour: Holiday Edition” via Zoom on Wednesday, Nov. 3.
Registration is required for the 6 p.m. event.
United Kingdom travel/relocation consultant and former UK resident Claire Evans will lead viewers on a delightful culinary tour of the UK inspired by “The Great British Baking Show” television series aired on PBS.
Viewers will learn about making a proper cup of tea, regional specialties, their origins, and the particular parts of the UK from which they hail, according to information recently released by the library.
As it is the “Holiday Edition,” she will focus on festive baking in particular, the released continued.
Evans will translate the trickiest parts of British recipes for Americans so they can try them in their own kitchen. Viewers also might pick up useful travel tips as well, just in case they’d like to create their own tour.
Evans started her love of most things British as she and her mother watched countless episodes of “Are You Being Served?,” “Fawlty Towers” and “The Vicar of Dibley” on PBS. She went on to study abroad in London and, against the odds, she married a Brit she met in Peoria, Ill. They moved to England, where they lived for a number of years, the release stated.
Outside of her work for a legal advice charity, Evans became a student of historical sights, pub dining and tea shops. Her business, Tea with Claire, grew from friends asking for travel and relocation advice, according to the release.
