Town of Jefferson two-vehicle crash results in fatality

The Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office has reported that a two-vehicle crash in the town of Jefferson has resulted in a fatality. 

According to information released Wednesday by Sheriff Paul Milbrath, at 7:40 a.m., deputies responded to a two-vehicle crash on State Highway 12 near County Highway C in the town of Jefferson.

A preliminary investigation at the scene shows that the driver of a vehicle traveling westbound on State Highway 12 lost control and crossed into the eastbound lanes of the highway. A truck traveling eastbound on State Highway 12 was unable to avoid this vehicle and struck it, the release stated.  

The release noted that the drivers were the lone occupants within each vehicle. 

According to the release, the driver of the westbound vehicle sustained “critical injuries and was transported to a local hospital. That individual unfortunately succumbed to their injuries.”  

The driver of the truck was not injured in the crash.  

The sheriff’s office was assisted at the scene by the Fort Atkinson Fire Department, Wisconsin State Patrol and Jefferson County Emergency Communications for traffic control.

The incident is still being investigated by the Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office, the release noted.
