The Fort Atkinson Community Band will begin rehearsals for its summer concert series Monday, April 3, according to information released by community band director Wayne Crook.
The band is also seeking new members, the director noted within the release.
This year’s rehearsals are in preparation for the band’s 63rd season of performing outdoor summer concerts.
“We are a group made up of area residents who enjoy getting together to play music. Members can range in age from high school to senior citizen, Crook noted in the release, adding that no auditions or fees are required for those interested in joining the band.
This season, the band will perform several styles of music, including marches, songs from musicals and movies, pop, contemporary hits, swing tunes, and Latin-style pieces.
“We will get in shape together playing a variety of tunes” Crook noted in the release.
New members are welcome in all sections and family participation is strongly encouraged, he said.
Rehearsals take place on a weekly basis through Monday, Aug. 14, from 7 to 9 p.m. in the band room at the Fort Atkinson Middle School.
Instruments are available to lend for those in need.
This year, the band is especially looking for individuals to play clarinet, accessory percussion, mallet percussion and baritone sax, Crook said.
This season’s concert dates include: June 19, July 3, July 17, July 31, and Aug. 14.
