Whitewater City Manager John Weidl has announced that he and Whitewater Common Council President Lisa Dawsey Smith will be holding an opportunity for members of the public to meet them over a cup of coffee.
The meet-and-greet event will be held Wednesday, April 5, from 1 to 3 p.m., at the Whitewater Municipal Building, 312 W. Whitewater St., in the second floor conference room.
Coffee and cookies will be provided on a first-come, first served basis, according to information released by Weidl.
In Addition, the release noted, Whitewater Police Chief Daniel A. Meyer and Whitewater Police Officer Saul Valadez will be on-hand to meet members of the public.
Whitewater Common Council Member and Community Development Authority Vice Chairman James Allen will be available between 1 and 2 p.m., the release noted.
“Over the next several months and into next year, the Common Council president and I look forward to introducing the community to individual council members and department heads as well as showcasing their unique contributions to our city. At the same time, we hope to provide an opportunity for individuals to get to know more about the city employees, ask questions, and make suggestions. We are also pleased to announce that we will have staff that can speak both Spanish and English for our ELL and MLL community members,” Weidl was quoted as saying in the release.
The noted that the event was being offered as “part of a series of open forums” organized to offer residents an opportunity to “get to know” city officials.
The event is open to all members of the public, the release stated.
“The future of our community depends in large part on our commitment to meaningful dialogue. Everyone has a role in building a more vibrant community. We need to build a bridge between the conversions we have around the kitchen table and the conversations amongst our community leaders. This series of open forums enables us to build community dialogue,” Dawsey Smith was quoted as saying in the release.
