The Jefferson Public Library, 321 South Main St., Jefferson, is offering several activities and events throughout April.
According to information released by the library, events include:
Friends of the Jefferson Public Library bake sale, book sale
A Friends of the Jefferson Public Library bake sale will be held Tuesday, April 4, between 9 a.m. and 8 p.m., or while supplies last. Proceeds will “support a good cause,” the release stated. In addition, the Friends group will meet Tuesday, April 11, from 6 to 7 p.m., in the Library Meeting room. The group meets on the second Tuesday of each month with the exception of December, the release noted.
Also, the Friends group will be holding its book and bake sale, Thursday, April 20, from 9 a.m. to 7 p.m., Friday, April 21, from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m., and Saturday, April 22, from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. On Saturday, patrons will be offered an opportunity to fill a bag with books for $5.
Items for sale during the three-day event will include books, DVDs, and music, among other offerings, the release stated.
Additional programming
Among activities offered for participants of all ages, the library will be offering a “storytime” program, Wednesdays, April 5, 12, 19, and 26 at 10 a.m. Programming includes “songs, stories and movement,” according to the release. A craft time will follow each story time session. The program is recommended for children ages 2-5, with their caregivers, the release noted.
‘Wackadoo Days!’
According to information supplied by the library, “Wackadoo Days!” will be held Monday, April 10, from 10:30 to 11:30 a.m. The activity provides opportunities to play “Bluey-inspired” games, make crafts, listen to a story, and enjoy a snack. The program is designed for participants of all ages, and preregistration is encouraged.
Several activities will be available in April for children between the ages of 6 and 11, including “Pages + Paws,” and “Lego Club.”
Pages + Paws, offered Monday, April 10, from 6 to 7 p.m. offers participants an opportunity to visit and read with a therapy dog. The program is open to participants of all ages.
Lego Club will meet Thursday, April 13, from 4 to 5 p.m. Children of all ages are welcome to participate by building with Legos and “Mr. Nate.”
In addition, the library will offer several programs for adults, defined as ages 18 and older. They include a birdhouse designing contest, chair yoga, adult arts and crafts, adult book club, and a senior social hour.
Birdhouse contest
According to the release, a birdhouse design contest will be held Wednesday, April 5 through Tuesday, May 2. The program is offered in conjunction with World Migratory Bird Day. Participants are invited to visit the library and obtain a kit which will help them design a birdhouse.
Chair Yoga
A Chair Yoga session, described within the release as a “gentle form of yoga that is practiced sitting on a chair,” will be held Tuesday April 11, from 10 to 11 a.m. Participants are advised to wear comfortable clothes.
Adult Arts and Crafts club
According to the release, supplies will be provided to adults participating in the club.
Adult book club
Slated to take place Monday, April 17, from 2:30 to 4 p.m., participants are asked to bring their own book. Club members will share their favorite books and create a “to be read” list for future meetings.
Senior social hour
According to the release, “light refreshments” will be provided during an hour of activities and socializing. The event will be held Friday, April 28, from 1 to 2 p.m.
