The Jefferson County Master Gardener Volunteers group has announced that gardens found in the state of Oaxaca, Mexico, will be the focus of a presentation slated for this month.
According to a news release, Helen Raatz, president of the master gardeners’ group, will be sharing information about her visit to the gardens in Oaxaca.
Those attending the presentation will learn about the gardens, along with vegetation in three different ecosystems: sub tropical, mountain, and tropical, the release stated.
Gardens visited by Raatz are found between Oaxaca City, which is located in a valley of the Sierra Madre, and Puerto Escondido, located near the Pacific Ocean, the release added.
The presentation will be offered as part of the group’s monthly meeting which will be held at the Jefferson County Extension Office, 864 Collins Rd., Jefferson, Thursday, April 13, at 6:30 p.m.

The meeting is open to the public, the release noted.
In addition, the release stated, a brief business meeting will be held following the educational presentation. Discussions will focus on making plans for the May plant sale, with requests for volunteers and plant donations; grants awards; bylaws; reports; requests for a vice-president and committee members; upcoming educational programs, and information about summer tours.
