Sharon Kay Witt, age 80, passed away peacefully on April 27, 2023. She was born July 10, 1942, in Madison, Wisconsin, to Tom and Dorothy Reynolds (Mehrkens).
Growing up, Sharon always joked about being a tomboy, running with a group of boys in her neighborhood. One time, they climbed the Spaanem Avenue water tower. She loved to share that story as well as so many more.
In 1960, she graduated from Monona Grove High School.
Sharon loved her many jobs that she worked at throughout her life. But the job that most defined her was the 33 years she spent working for the Madison School District as a teacher’s aide. Everyone who attended school at Elvejhem Elementary has a “Miss Sharon” story. After she retired, Sharon continued for years at the school volunteering.
She had so much joy, caring for her many grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Everyone received a birthday card from her, as well as the phone call, so she could sing “Happy Birthday”. There wasn’t a better example of a grandmother than Sharon.
She was loved by many and will be missed dearly.
Sharon is survived by her children, William Witt IV (Janel), Brian Jon Witt (Lori), Bradley Thomas Witt, and Kari Ann Witt (Mark Johnson).
Grandchildren, Zach Witt, Annelise Witt (Coker), Bryce Witt, Alexis Wood, Chayce Rayner, T.J. Houghton, Brady Witt, Brooklyn Witt, William Witt V, Barrett Witt, Broderick Witt and Boyd Witt.
Great Grandchildren, William Witt VI, Hunter Witt, Ryder Coker, Blakely and Ruby Witt.
She was preceded in death by her parents Tom and Dorothy, and her brother Tom.
A private memorial service will be held.
Dunlap Memorial Home in Fort Atkinson is assisting the family.
