Lemonade Day will be held Saturday in Barrie Park, 210 Robert St., Fort Atkinson.
This year marks the third in which the Fort Atkinson Area Chamber of Commerce will be sponsoring the event.
The first Lemonade Day in Fort Atkinson was held in 2019, but was paused in 2020 and 2021 in consideration of COVID-19 pandemic precautions. The program resumed in 2022.
In previous years, young entrepreneurs operated lemonade stands at locations throughout the downtown area. This year, according to information released by the chamber, the stands will be located in the city’s Barrie Park, which is centrally located to the city’s downtown area.
Fort Atkinson Area Chamber of Commerce Project and Membership Manager Dana Butson noted in March that the change was made to provide each of the young entrepreneurs with a more equitable selling opportunity.
In preparation of Lemonade Day, participants attended various workshops where they learned how to build, finance and operate a stand.
Workshops included “Recipe Day” at Jones Market; “Bank Day” at FCCU, Badger Bank and Johnson Financial; “Construction Day” at Builders FirstSource, and “Marketing Day,” which will be held at BASE (Badgerland After School Enrichment) program locations.
All interested youth are invited to participate in the program free of charge.
The exercise is meant to teach young entrepreneurs about the ins and outs of operating their own business, literature shared by the chamber states.
This year, eight stands will be made available where patrons can purchase lemonade and other goodies. Stands will be open between 11 a.m. and 2 p.m.
“The Fort Atkinson Area Chamber of Commerce and Fort Community Credit Union are excited to be bringing Lemonade Day back to Fort Atkinson,” a recent news release provided by the chamber noted.
“The public is encouraged to come out and sample the wares of these young people; prices may vary per stand,” Fort Atkinson Area Chamber of Commerce Executive Director Shauna Wessely noted within the release.
