Several pieces of business were conducted during a recently held annual meeting and luncheon of the Fort Atkinson Woman’s Club, according to a recent news release, including the announcement of two 2023 recipients of scholarship funds.
According to the release, the annual scholarships are awarded to adult students who are returning to school to further their education.
In 2023, $1,000 was awarded to each of two recipients, including Morgan Hall, who is pursing her BSN degree, and Katie Weinfurter, who is pursuing her Ph.D in chemistry.
The club also named the recipients of two Community Improvement Awards, with each receiving $500. They are The Fort Atkinson Community Band and to the Fort Atkinson Homeless Coalition.
According to the release, during the luncheon, Fort Atkinson Homeless Coaling Director Sherrie Bramstat and board member Tina Beckman noted that grant money will be added to funding for the organization’s capital campaign, with those monies used to purchase and move two houses owned by Fort HealthCare. The homes will ultimately be used to house clients in need of transitional help as the move to more permanent housing.
Monies raised to support the club’s scholarships and community grants are developed through donations, annual dues, a quilt raffle, monthly Bunco games, the club’s annual plant sale and “other fun activities,” the release noted.
In addition, the club installed officers for 2023.
The release additionally stated that the clubs plant sale will be held during the Fort Farmers Market on Saturday, May 20.
