The second in a 2023 series of “Savory Sounds” concerts hosted by the Whitewater Arts Alliance will be moving indoors, according to information released by the organization.
Organizers have made the decision to host Thursday’s concert indoors due to the air quality alert which remains in effect in Wisconsin until Thursday at noon.
Thursday’s concert features the 132D Army Band, described within information released by the alliance as “one of the finest military bands in the nation.” The band performs around the world in ceremonial, military and community events and has a repertoire that includes traditional, jazz and popular pieces.
Each Savory Sounds concert is paired with an onsite vendor from which lunch may be purchased. The 132D Army band is paired with food vendor La Preferida.
The concert will be held Thursday, June 29, from 11:30 a.m to 12:45 p.m., at the First United Methodist Church, 145 S. Prairie St., Whitewater, inside the sanctuary, located on the second floor.
Diners purchasing food from La Preferida before and during the concert will be directed to the church’s fellowship hall, on the first floor. The fellowship hall will be the only space within the church where food may be consumed.
Within the church, event-goers will find an elevator available to access the second floor and the building is air conditioned.
The event is free and open to the public. Parking will be available behind the church and the Whitewater Cultural Arts Center, 402 West Main St., which is located across the street from the church.
