The American Association of University Women (AAUW) has announced that it will be holding its annual book sale.
The annual book sale held by the Fort Atkinson branch of the AAUW is in its 44th year.
The event will be held Friday, Sept. 15, from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m., and Saturday, Sept. 16, from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m., in the gym at the Fort Atkinson Municipal Building, 101 N. Main St.
According to information released by the organization, those interested in making book donations for inclusion in the same may do so by dropping their donation off at the Jones Dairy Farm warehouse, which is located next to the Fort Atkinson Food Pantry, 715 Jones Avenue, Fort Atkinson.
Donation may be dropped off on Tuesdays and Saturdays, from 9 to 11 a.m., and on Thursdays, from 4:30 to 6 p.m.
Those looking to make special arrangements to drop off donations are encouraged to call 920-309-2668.
Donations for the sale will be accepted through Saturday, Sept. 2, according to the release.
The organization this year will offer “two new categories,” the release stated, which is has developed, “based on feedback.”
They are: animals and women’s studies.
In addition, the group is looking for donations in such categories as fiction, romance and history.
“We are also always interested in receiving more large print and Spanish language books, as well,” organizers stated within the release.
The group accepts donations of books that are in “good condition,” and does not accept books that are damaged, with broken spines, missing pages, or have sustained water damage, or have mold, the release noted.
Additionally, donations of magazines, textbooks or manuals that are older than five years, encyclopedias and Reader’s Digest Condensed Books are not accepted.
Funds earned through the book sale are used to support AAUW scholarships, the release noted.
According to the release, the organization assists area women achieve their educational goals, including those of pursuing an associate, bachelor, graduate or post-graduate degree.
“AAUW believes education is the cornerstone of progress and success and the scholarships the organization provides annually help deserving women succeed,” the release stated.
