St. Joseph Catholic Church and School in Fort Atkinson has announced that it will be holding a two-day Fall Festival in September.
According to information released by its organizers, the festival will be held at the church, 1660 Endl Blvd., Saturday, Sept. 9, from 5 to 8:30 p.m., and Sunday, Sept. 10, from 11:30 a.m. to 3 p.m.
As noted in the release, the festival is a parish tradition that dates back several decades.
This year, organizers say they have expanded a “lineup of activities.”
Saturday’s events
Among offerings on Saturday, the St. Joseph Hispanic Ministry will serve tacos and tamales from 5:15 to 7 p.m. in the parish hall.
Activities to be held in the school’s gym include a showing of the movie “Babe,” beginning at 6:30 p.m. The movie is offered as an activity for children. Also, an opportunity to make arts and crafts will be offered at 6:30 p.m. In addition, a trivia contest is slated to take place between 6:30 and 8:30 p.m. The trivia contest is open to adults, ages 18 and older. A $5 per player entry fee applies. Teams may include a maximum of ten players.
Sunday’s events
On Sunday, event-goers will find a grilled chicken and sweet corn dinner offered beginning at 11:30 a.m.. The full menu features grilled chicken, corn on the cob, coleslaw, dessert, coffee, water and milk. The following prices apply: half-chicken dinner, $15, and quarter-chicken dinner, $12.
Kid’s meals also are available for children ages 12 and under. The menu includes a hotdog, half ear of corn, watermelon, cookie and one kid’s game ticket. A kid’s meal costs $5.
Meal tickets will be made available for purchase in the Gathering Space at the church after 10 a.m. Mass on Sunday, Sept. 10.
A carry-out option is available for meals, and dining areas will be provided in the Parish Hall and underneath tents outdoors.
Event-goers on Sunday will find live music underneath the outdoor tents, performed by the Fort Atkinson-based band “Backyard Dischord,” which, the release noted, is composed of Bob Frantell, who plays the guitar, Angela Licari who plays the violin, and Randy Syreson who plays the bass guitar.
The band will perform between 11:30 a.m. and 2:30 p.m.
Children, ages 17 and under, will find a sidewalk chalk art contest in which they may participate. The event will take place in front of the St. Joseph Catholic School, and will follow the theme of Galatians 5:22-26 — “The Holy Family.”
Artists may begin chalking their designs anytime between 9 and 11:15 a.m. Art will be judged at 1 p.m. Participation in the event costs $5, which can be paid on the day of the event. All funds collected will be used for future church youth events, the release noted.
