The First Congregational United Church of Christ, UCC, Fort Atkinson, has announced that it has donated $385 to the Unity Project of Fort Atkinson.
According to information released by the church, its members, in collaboration with members of the Unity Project, hosted a booth at this year’s first of several Fort Atkinson Community Band concerts held in Barrie Park.
The band performed several concerts this year as part of its 63rd season, and had earlier announced the return of the “Ice Cream Social,” a staple fundraising event that was held in tandem with the concert series in advance of its pause during the COVID-19 pandemic.
The Ice Cream Social event held in June was the first to take place after the pause, Fort Atkinson Community Band Director Wayne Crook, noted in an earlier press release.
According to information released by the church, members of the congregation offered pie and other home backed goods, along with ice cream, for sale during the concert.
Proceeds earned from the sale of the treats were donated to the Unity Project to help it continue its mission, the release stated, of “promoting a sense of acceptance and belonging among all members of our community.”
