Chamber, technical college, Fort HealthCare offer job fair collaboration

Fort HealthCare, Madison Area Technical College (MATC), and the Fort Atkinson Area Chamber of Commerce have announced that they have come together as a collaborative team to bring a job fair to Fort Atkinson later this month.

According to information released by the chamber, the fair will be held Wednesday, Sept. 13, from 2 to 6 p.m., at Madison Area Technical College’s Fort Atkinson campus, 827 Banker Rd.

The event will be held in rooms 155 and 157.

Seventeen local businesses will be on hand to meet with job seekers.

They are: The Fort Atkinson Area Chamber of Commerce; Badger Bank; Bender, Kind and Strafford, DDS.; Fort HealthCare; Homes for independent Living; IPEC; Jones Dairy Farm; Madison Area Technical College; Mary Kay Beauty Consultant Mary Beth Klietz; Opportunities, Inc.; Rainbow Hospice Care, Inc.; Renna Senior Living; Spacesaver Corp.; The Fireside Dinner Theatre, and the Wisconsin National Guard, all of which are Fort Atkinson-based.

Additionally, the fair will be attended by St. Coletta of Wisconsin, Jefferson, and Truck Country of DeForest, Oak Creek and Milwaukee.

The event is free and open to all job seekers, with no registration required, Fort Atkinson Area Chamber of Commerce Executive Director Shauna Wessely noted in a recent email.

Both English- and Spanish-speakers seeking a job or new career path in the Fort Atkinson area are encouraged to attend, according to the release.

“We are very excited to be partnering with Fort HealthCare and MATC in this workforce initiative, as it’s vital for those in and around the Fort Atkinson area to see what intriguing opportunities our community can offer,” Wessely was quoted as saying in the release.

She noted by email that the upcoming job fair is the first collaborative workforce initiative taken by the three groups, although, she added, the chamber has participated in job fairs in the past.

The concept for the collaborative fair was suggested by Fort HealthCare officials after they noted recently the success of job fairs held in other communities such as Whitewater and Watertown, Wessely wrote.

“Workforce development is one of the major initiatives of the chamber,” she noted.

Those with questions about the upcoming event are encouraged to contact Fort Atkinson Area Chamber of Commerce Projects Manager Dana Butson, Mondays through Fridays, between 10 a.m. and 3 p.m., by email: projects@fortchamber.com or by phone: 920-397-7320.
