Jefferson County Sheriff Paul Milbrath released information Wednesday regarding two crashes within the county, each with fatalities.
According to the release, both crashes occurred Tuesday.
As reported by the sheriff, in the town of Farmington, at 8:53 p.m., a vehicle, traveling eastbound at a high rate of speed on Resort Drive failed to stop at a stop sign on Resort Drive at the intersection with County Trunk Y.
The vehicle next preceded to cross over County Trunk Y at which time it struck a structure, an unattended vehicle and a tree, the release reported.
A single occupant of the vehicle was transported to a local hospital where the individual succumbed to injuries, the release stated.
Additionally, the release noted, “there were no individuals outside where the crash occurred on the property.”
Sheriff’s deputies were assisted at the scene by Johnson Creek Police, Fire and EMS, the release noted.
Also on Tuesday, deputies responded to a second crash in the town of Waterloo. According to the release, the crash occurred at 10:18 p.m. when a vehicle, traveling southbound at a high rate of speed on Younker Lane failed to negotiate a curve where Younker Lane intersects with Peschel Road.
According to the release, the vehicle struck a tree, “and became fully engulfed.”
The single occupant was pronounced dead at the scene, the release stated.
Sheriff’s deputies were assisted at the scene by the Dodge County Sheriff’s Office, due, the release read, to the Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office making use of its resources as it responded to the emergency in Farmington.
Waterloo Fire and EMS additionally assisted at the scene, the release noted.
The Jefferson County Medical Examiner’s Office assisted deputies at both scenes, according to the release.
