Jefferson 1/2 Mile ATV Club donates $52,000 to Fort HealthCare Mammogram Voucher Program

The Jefferson 1/2 Mile ATV Club has announced that monies raised through its Sixth Annual Save the Racks Ride have been donated to the Fort HealthCare Mammogram Voucher Program.

The ride, which attracted some 212 participants, was held last month, according to information released by the club.

Riders, representing 25 communities, raised approximately $52,000 in support of the voucher program, the release noted, which is an increase over last year when the group raised $31,000.

According to information supplied by the club, on Oct. 30, it presented members of the Fort HealthCare staff with a check for $51,762.

“We are very grateful to the Jefferson 1/2 Mile ATV Club. Their support has been so valuable and allowed us to grow this essential cancer screening program. Last year, these funds provided 73 vouchers to women needing this important screening. The Mammogram Voucher Program, which was started at Fort HealthCare in 2008, has provided hundreds of mammograms to women in need and we are delighted to continue our partnership with this generous local club,” Lisa Jensen, vice president of Fort HealthCare’s Nursing Services department and chief nursing officer was quoted as saying in the release.

As noted in the release, the “Save the Racks Ride” has become a “beloved annual tradition in Jefferson County.”

The event, according to the release, is dedicated to raising funds for the Fort HealthCare Mammogram Voucher Program, which allows uninsured and underinsured community members to receive screening mammograms free of charge. The program works to ensure that everyone within the community has access to early breast cancer detection.

In addition, the release stated, due to the success of the event this year, the program will expand to include vouchers for followup procedures, including ultrasounds, among others.

“The success of this year’s ride can be attributed to the incredible support and participation from the community, as well as the dedicated members of the Jefferson 1/2 Mile ATV Club,” the release read.

Within the release, John Drake, president of the Jefferson 1/2 Mile ATV Club, expressing the club’s gratitude for the community’s support, said, “We are overjoyed with the response we received this year. It’s incredible to see how our community comes together to support such a vital cause. We are proud to have not only met, but exceeded our goal, and we know that these funds will make a meaningful impact on the lives of those in need.”
