Rep. Ratcliff, Democratic candidate for State Senate District 16, offers statement on new district lines

Editor’s note: The following statement has been submitted for publication by the Friends of Melissa Ratcliff branch of the candidate’s campaign. The candidate, who is running in Senate District 16, serves currently in Assembly District 46.

Today, Gov. Tony Evers signed into law new legislative maps for Wisconsin. The new Senate District 16 encompasses Cottage Grove, Sun Prairie, Fitchburg, Stoughton, Cambridge and communities in  Dodge and Jefferson counties, including Waterloo, Lake Mills, and Fort Atkinson.

Rep. Melissa Ratcliff, D-Cottage Grove, candidate for Wisconsin State Senate District 16 has released the following statement:

“The new Senate District 16, in which I am running, includes many communities I currently serve including Cottage Grove and Sun Prairie. It includes many communities in which I have deep connections and networks because of the extensive door-knocking and canvassing I have done to help elect other Democrats up and down the ballot. It includes Waterloo where I lived before moving to Dane County.

“In the Assembly, I have championed reproductive rights, fair maps, expanding broadband, equal rights and safety for our LGBTQ+ residents, and services for veterans and seniors. I have a proven track-record as an effective leader who gets things done.

In the Senate, just as I have done in the Assembly, I will work my hardest every day on behalf of the local communities and residents I serve and who count on me to represent them in the State Capitol.”
