Ten Jefferson downtown merchants will join together to host the second annual “Meet the Makers Day,” according to information released by the collective. The group has organized as the Jefferson Main Street Association, Inc.
Demonstrations, offering a look at how things are made will be offered by members of the group.
According to the release, the event will be held throughout the Jefferson downtown area Saturday, April 20, between 11 a.m. and 5 p.m.
“This event will be a great opportunity to see all of the amazing things that are made right here in downtown Jefferson,” Twice Baked Pottery, LLC, owner Scott Obernberger, was quoted as saying in the release.
Obernberger was among members participating in last year’s event.
This year, like last, promises to expose event-goers to the processes of how things are made by offering various demonstration throughout the day at the stores and studios participating in the event, the release noted.
Event-goers will “see first-hand how we make our products, whether it is wine, floral design, jewelry repair, pottery, gaming demonstrations, painting, body care products or delectable treats, this is an incredible chance to see not just where things are made, but how they are made,” Obernberger noted.
“Each location will be doing demonstrations throughout the day so that you and your families can come and learn more about how much work, craftsmanship, and love goes into everything we do in downtown Jefferson,” Amy Maresch, executive director of the Jefferson Main Street Association, Inc., was quoted as saying in the release.
Participating shops
A list of participating downtown shops and the demonstration each will offer follows:
• Wood and Wool, which will be holding a needle felting demonstration
• Brightter Boutique, which will be presenting information about warm-weather fashion trends.
• Samijo’s Pizzeria, which will be demonstrating the art of saucing and cheesing a pizza.
• V Legion Games, which will be offering gaming demonstrations.
• Twice Baked Pottery, LLC, where the owner will show visitors to his shop how he makes vases and bowls, with a presentation titled: “Wheel Be Throwing Clay!”.
• Vintage on Main, where event-goers will be able to meet shopkeeper Penny, and sample Hippychick Penny Soaps & Body Care.
• Groovy Lily, where event-goers will be able to meet shopkeeper Linda, and sample locally made candy.
• No XQz LLC – At V Legion Games, where an activity described as “Paint Pouring” will be held.
• Wine and Roses, where event-goers will find floral designing demonstrations offered between 10 a.m. and noon. The shop also will offer a wine making demonstration at noon, with wine tasting available throughout the day.
• Jefferson Business Center, where multiple community artist will be on hand.
• Knutson Jewelers, where shop representatives will demonstrate jewelry repair.
Maresch, who is the owner of Vintage on Main, within the release described the event as “family friendly,” further noting that it provides an opportunity for children to learn about the craftsmanship and artistry that goes into the production of products in Jefferson “every single day.”
