The Irvin L. Young Memorial Library, Whitewater, is offering a free summer reading program June 15 through July 31.
According to Youth Services Librarian Deana Rolfsmeyer, “Kids like it because there are good books and fun prizes. Parents like it because it helps their children avoid the dreaded ‘summer slide.’”
Those interested in participating in the program are asked to register online, beginning June 1, to record readings, earn badges and win prizes, by using the following link: https://whitewaterlibrary.beanstack.org/.
“And because kids shouldn’t have all the fun, there’s an adult program, too,” Rolfsmeyer said.

The summer reading program is open to the public and no library card is required to participate.
The program is facilitated with help from the Wisconsin Department of Public Instruction and made possible through grant support from the Institute of Museum and Library Services, according to Rolfsmeyer.
