Larry Allen Willing, 75, of Jefferson passed away on Saturday, May 25, 2024 at home surrounded in love by his family, after a courageous battle with cancer.
Larry was born on June 11, 1948 in Fort Atkinson to Kenneth and Louise (Hitch) Willing and was the oldest of three children. He was raised on the family farm in Jefferson and lived his entire life on Willing Road, which was named after his grandfather. Larry attended St. Paul’s Lutheran School in Fort Atkinson and later graduated from Fort Atkinson High School in 1966. After graduation, he continued farming the family farm with his father and brother. Larry married Lori Lueder in September of 1976. They had 47 wonderful years together and had two children, Tracy and Brian. In 1979, Larry started driving semi-tractor/trailer. He continued in this profession as an over-the-road driver for 39 years before retiring in May of 2018. Many times with his wife and/or children as his passengers to keep him company and to see the country. In his 39 years of driving, he was able to travel to all 48 states. He drove for Yerges Van Lines in Fort Atkinson, Aunt Nellie’s Farm Kitchens in Clyman, and most recently W& A Distribution Services in Fort Atkinson for 21 years.
Larry enjoyed hunting, fishing, and boating. He loved watching his children and grandchildren in sports, school activities, and spending time with them. He enjoyed a good old Wisconsin Friday night fish fry, old fashions and grasshoppers.
Larry is survived by his wife, Lori Willing; children, Lynn Willing of Watertown, Brian (Krista) Willing of Sun Prairie, Laura (Craig) Fitzpatrick of Phoenix, AZ, Heather Frengley of Gilbert, AZ, Tracy (Peter) Roub of Cambridge; grandchildren, Gavin Fitzpatrick of Delafield, Paul Fitzpatrick of Delafield, Amanda (Justin) Magsamen of Watertown, Tiffany (Tim) Jaquith of Ocala, FL, Lily Willing of Sun Prairie, Mason Willing of Sun Prairie; step-grandchildren, Gavin Roub of Fort Atkinson, Dominic Roub of Fort Atkinson; great-granddaughter, Alanna Magsamen; mother, Louise Finn of Jefferson; siblings, Terry (Helen) Willing of Jefferson, Katie (Greg) Stahl of Jefferson; many nieces, nephews, and cousins.
He is preceded in death by his father, Kenneth Willing; many aunts, uncles, and cousins.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Larry’s name to Prohealth Home Hospice of Waukesha, or St. Paul’s Ev. Lutheran Church in Fort Atkinson.
The family would like to give special thanks to the staff of Prohealth Home Hospice for their exceptional care for Larry.
A memorial service will take place at 3PM on Friday, May 31, 2024 at Nitardy Funeral Home in Fort Atkinson. A visitation will take place from 1PM until the time of service.
