The Fort Atkinson Fire Department was dispatched Wednesday to a garage fire in the town of Hebron, according to information released by city officials.
Within the release, officials reported that at 1:51 p.m., the department received a report of a structure fire at W4802 Highway 106 in the town of Hebron.
According to the release, upon arrival, first-in crews encountered a 20-by 40-foot unattached garage with heavy smoke venting through the roof.
Crews confirmed that no one was home at the time of the fire, the release noted.
Firefighters gained entry into the garage, where they found heavy smoke and heat throughout the building. The fire was brought under control and extinguished within five minutes, the release stated.
The release read: “An investigation revealed that the fire originated in a riding mower and extended to the structural members of the garage. There were no injuries to any civilians or firefighters during the incident.
“The cause of the fire is still under investigation, but does not appear to be suspicious, with initial findings suggesting equipment failure as the likely cause.”
