Organizers of the Jefferson County Christmas Neighbors program have announced that the organization is accepting applications to help those in need this year beginning Monday, Nov. 4.
According to a news release, the program is in its 72nd year and is structured to help low income families and their children over the holiday season.
The organization offers two programs: “Toy Distribution,” and “Adopt A Family.”
Volunteers will be on hand to take applications by phone, Monday through Friday, between 9 a.m. and 4 p.m., through Dec. 9. Those interested in participating in the program are encouraged to call 920-674-4499.
Applicants must be residents of Jefferson County.
In 2022, according to an earlier release, some 591 families and over 1,600 children were supported through the Adopt-a-Family and Toy and Food Giveaway programs.
Last year, a more recent release noted, 600 area families were supported through the program.
Those interested in sponsoring one or more families through the Adopt-a-Family program are encouraged to contact the program office by phone to speak with a volunteer.
Within this year’s release, organizers noted that they are looking for donations of new and gently used toys, including such items as children’s books, and new articles of clothing, such as hats, gloves, scarves, and mittens.
Those looking to donate such items will find drop boxes offered through various companies across Jefferson County, including PremierBank, Badger Bank, Fort Atkinson Community Credit Union, County Credit Union, U.S. Cellular, Theisen Home and Auto of Jefferson, Tan a Latte, and PaddyShack Golf and Lounge.
The organization also is seeking monetary donations. Information about making donations is found on the group’s website: christmasneighbors.org.
Those with questions are encouraged to contact the organization’s office during regular business hours, the release stated.
