The Aging and Disability Resource Center (ADRC) of Jefferson County has shared the following dates for those interested in memory screening, “compassion chats,” and a senior resource guide.
Memory Screen
According to ADRC, a memory screen is a tool to help determine if there are cognitive changes occurring. This screen is not a diagnostic tool, but rather a conversation starter. Those looking to get a baseline or help determining if what they are experiencing is normal are encouraged to stop by one of the sites below or call the Dementia Care Specialist to set up an appointment.
Screen openings are available:
July 27 at the Watertown Senior Center, available times are at: 11:30 a.m., 12 p.m., 12:30 p.m. and 2:30 p.m. To register, call 920-675-4035.
Aug. 12, from 9-3 p.m. at the Jefferson Public Library.
Sept. 2, from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the Dwight Foster Public Library, Fort Atkinson.
Oct. 14, from 9 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. at the Johnson Creek Public Library.
Nov. 30, from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the Watertown Senior Center.
Dec. 17, from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the Waterloo Public Library.
Those requiring an interpreter are asked to make arraignments when registering.
Those requiring special arrangements made for a screen time can contact Heather Janes, dementia care specialist, 920-674-8734.

Senior Resource Guide
The 2020/2021 Senior Resource Guide is available at the ADRC or online at www.seniorresourcesonline.com.
This is a great tool for those looking for resources in Jefferson, Dane, Columbia, Dodge, Grant, Green, Iowa, Juneau, Lafayette, Richland, Rock, or Sauk Counties, Janes said.
When clicking the link, site visitors will see an arrow in the “Choose a category” box. Click on the arrow and a drop-down menu with more options will appear. Click on “home care” and another drop-down menu will appear. Click on “choose category” for further options. Janes said searches are available for Home Care/Non-Medical or Home Health agencies, depending on what the patient needs.
The site also has search options by city, county or zip code which will produce a list of agencies that provide services in that area.
Assisted Living facilities are also available on the site.
Those looking for further information or instruction can contact Janes at ADRC, located at 1541 Annex Road, Jefferson, or call: 920-674-8734.
