“Art on the Green,” an art fair planned in conjunction with Whitewater’s Maxwell Street Days, will be held in August, according to a recent press release.
The event, which is free and open to the public, is scheduled to take place Friday, Aug. 6 and Saturday, Aug. 7, from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m., at the Cultural Art Center, 402 W. Main Street, Whitewater.
The art fair is hosted by the Whitewater Arts Alliance.
According to the release, eight local artists will be featured, including: Marilyn Fuerstenberg, Taylor McDarison, Lynette Redner, Amy Weh, Janet Nelson, Sylvia Linton, Susan Kotur, and Varla Bishop.
Along with art for sale, event-goers will find painting and pottery demonstrations. An exhibit, featuring public art previously displayed in Whitewater, will be on display in the gallery at the Cultural Art Center.
The fair will also feature a full lineup of musical performers, most of whom are Whitewater students.
Dr. Rachel Wood, assistant professor of music at the University of Wisconsin-Whitewater, has helped recruit talent and arrange performances for the fair, according to the release.
Performers include: Sophie Walton on piano; the UW-Whitewater Voice Academy/Voice Studios accompanied by Holly Holmberg on piano; Whitewater High School Singers under the direction of Karen Tordera; jazz combo Brandon Terwiliger, Alex Fiedler, Wesley Woitowicz, and Ryley Dlugi; vocalist Ella Smith, who is the recipient of the 2021 Whitewater Arts Alliance Diane Flood Scholarship; percussion ensemble Dawson Babcock, Jimmy Karolek, and Noah McKay, with vocal and guitar accompaniment by Alexa Wilhelm; the UW-Whitewater String Academy, and the UW-Whitewater Violin Studio.
Photographer Michael Havice will also be on hand to document the event, the release stated.
