“Clayfest 2021,” an outdoor art fair featuring a variety of handcrafted pottery and ceramic art, will be held Saturday, Sept. 11.
In its second year, the event will be held at The Potter’s Shop, 1314 S. West Ave., Waukesha, from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. The event is free and open to the public.
Pottery and ceramic art available for purchase at the show are the creations of local and regional artists.
Additionally, the fair will be hosting a live Raku firing and wheel throwing pottery demonstrations. Live music will be provided along with food available for purchase.
The Potter’s Shop exists to support clay artists in the regional community by providing quality materials and classes to the public and production space for members. Many of these members are participating in Clayfest, each showcasing their unique ideas and crafting techniques. Wheel thrown, hand-built, functional or decorative, this group of makers offers a diverse variety of work. Visit The Potter’s Shop Facebook page to learn more about the individual artists (see click-through ad below).
At Clayfest, members will demonstrate the mesmerizing art and skill of throwing on the potter’s wheel where guests can ask questions or just enjoy the show. For a hands-on art experience, guests can participate in a live Raku firing. After purchasing a pre-made vessel, participants will be guided through different Raku glazing and decorating techniques to create their very own one-of-a-kind piece.
Appreciate the musical ambiance of a local guitarist and grab a bite to eat from the Tacos Tutis truck, which will be parked onsite, while perusing handmade clay creations by the show artisans. Ceramic supplies will be discounted storewide for Clayfest. Explore quality supplies and find what you need to jumpstart your next clay project.
