The Whitewater Arts Alliance (WAA) has announced it will be hosting the University of Wisconsin-Whitewater Collaboration Show, a hybrid gallery and virtual exhibition developed to help connect artists in the Whitewater community and display their talents. The exhibition will showcase a variety of work produced by artists of varying ages and skill levels.
The exhibition will be on display Oct. 8 through Oct. 31 virtually on the WAA website, whitewaterarts.org and in-house in the Cultural Arts Center gallery, 402 W. Main Street, Friday through Sunday, from 2 to 4 p.m.
The show displays work from eight artists with a total of 21 pieces, with a range in two-dimensional mediums, including graphite, charcoal, ink, printed digital art, and three-dimensional pieces, including ceramic and metal. The show features an award-winning piece created by UW-Whitewater alumnus Skylar J Gabel.
According to information released by the WAA: Work created by staff, faculty, students, and alumni of the UW-Whitewater Department of Art and Design and presented in this show is haunting in nature to complement Whitewater’s first Storytelling Festival, planned for Oct. 16. Some audiences may find the content of some pieces disturbing. Viewer discretion is advised.
The City of Whitewater asks that all individuals wear a mask in the Cultural Arts Center regardless of vaccination status, according to the release.
