Two Fort Atkinson police officers each were presented with a “Lifesaving Award” Tuesday during the Fort Atkinson City Council meeting.
The officers were recognized for actions relating to an incident in July.
Officers Noah Samson and Joshua Kinney were selected by their peers to receive the award after responding to a 911 call July 19 involving a man who was found to be pulseless and not breathing. The officers provided lifesaving care to the Fort Atkinson resident by doing CPR and deploying an automated external defibrillator until paramedics arrived.
“Your actions and calmness directly aided in the reviving and saving of this person’s life,” Police Chief Adrian Bump told the officers during the award presentation. “Thanks for all you do and I am thankful to have you as an officer in our community,” he added.
The Lifesaving Award is presented to a department member in appreciation of prompt response when rendering the unselfish act of aid and assistance to another human being, resulting in saving a life.
Each officer received a medal, ribbon and certificate.
